So far this season, the South African Sugar Association (SASA) through its Sugar Terminal at Maydon Wharf has exported sugar to the United States of America (USA), the European Union (EU), China and Japan.  According to SASA Commercial Director Judith Wilson, the statutory body expects to export more than 500 000 tons of sugar. Last season there was zero sugar exports due to the drought which had a negative impact on sugar production.
