FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOR DIETICIANS AND NUTRITIONISTS

The South African Sugar Association (SASA) hosted a successful Sugar and Health Symposium in November last year.

The theme for the symposium was Prices, Processing and Practice. “This symposium aims to recognise the nutritional impact of prices and food processing and how to effectively communicate to clients what they need to hear,” SASA’s Nutrition Department Manager Priya Seetal. It was attended by 190 nutritionists and dieticians from all over the country. Presenters included researcher Dr Julie Smith, dietician Philippa Barnard, Health Department’s Nutrition Director Rebone Ntsie, professional natural scientist Nigel Sunley and dietician Megan Pentz-Kluyts.
